We are excited to highlight Danielle Kinsel for Employee Spotlight! Danielle is an Inspections Service Coordinator in our Charleston, South Carolina Division. Danielle joined the VSC team in August 2024 after working as a store manager in retail. She made the decision to switch career paths into an office role after one of her long-time customers who works at VSC suggested she apply.
Since joining the team, Danielle has seen the company grow through process improvements and standardization as well as the implementation of new roles and positions that have come with the expansion of our new Divisions.
Danielle’s professional growth since joining VSC includes understanding the technical aspect of inspections, code-compliance and differences in system requirements for AHJs. She has had the opportunity to work in service, inspections, office admin and sales since joining the team, and each role has taught her about the different aspects of the business. “This has allowed me to be well rounded in my position and have a greater understanding of the business as a whole,” she said.
April Mayo, Office Manager in our Charleston Division, remembers her first impression of Danielle. “She is kind and honest,” she said. April met Danielle on Danielle’s first day with VSC. We asked April how Danielle had grown since joining the team and she said, “She has had three different positions within the Division and has learned them all very well. Danielle is a team player and gets along with everyone.”
Danielle’s role involves working with our various systems. Her proudest achievement is being able to answer questions about those systems for others on the team. Danielle reflects on how she has “spent a lot of time and asked a lot of questions to gain a good knowledge of our systems.” April speaks to Danielle’s work ethic as “honest, accurate and fast.”
We asked Danielle what was different about VSC compared to companies she had worked for in the past. She said, “The biggest difference I have had is the respect for work-life balance!” In her former role, she was on-call 24/7. One thing that surprised her about working with VSC was how helpful everyone has been. “I was nervous when I started as I had no previous experience in the industry. Whether I am reaching out to someone in my Division or another office, everyone has been so helpful and takes the time to explain the ‘why’ so I can learn,” she said.
In her free time, Danielle enjoys playing disc golf, reading and thrifting. The last book she read was “The Edelweiss Pirates,” which is a historical piece on a teenage rebellion movement in Germany during World War II. Danielle recalls the best advice she has been given is, “Focus on doing the right thing, everything else will fall into place.”
We are so thankful to have Danielle on our team. She makes an impact every day. Thank you for everything you do, Danielle!
