This month we are recognizing Brandon Foyil for the Employee Spotlight! Brandon is a Project Manager at our Tulsa Integrated Systems Division. Brandon joined the VSC team in July 2023 via acquisition. Brandon has seen the company change and grow over his time with us including new branches in Oklahoma and surrounding states.
We asked Brandon what made working at VSC different from other companies, and he said, “VSC really values investing into their employees with trainings and opportunities. VSC embraces and promotes growth, not only as a company but they want their people to grow as well.” Some of the opportunities Brandon has had the ability to participate in include many leadership and supervisor trainings.
Scott Johnson, VP Division Manager for Tulsa Integrated Systems, remembered his first impression of Brandon, saying, “Brandon is always willing to step in or step up to help anyone. He goes above and beyond to help our technicians, our sales team, and our designer. Brandon is a true team player.” Scott remembers when he first met Brandon as a Trainee in the field. “When Brandon started at 18, he did not have any previous industry experience,” Scott said. “Now, as a project manager, he is the go-to person for so many in our division and he is always willing to help.”.
In reflecting on some of his proudest achievements, Brandon recalled the time when he was able to, “get the fire system up and going in a large hotel. We had many long days and nights to get the system working, but it happened on Christmas Eve. It’s a project I will never forget. I learned a lot on that project, not only about the system and construction management, but a lot about myself too,” he said.
We asked Scott about a time when Brandon went above and beyond, and Scott shared that, “Brandon always goes above and beyond his job description. Recently, he met a Fire Marshal at a customer site at 9 p.m. to do an inspection for the customer, and was there until 1 a.m. the next morning. Another time, he met one of our on-call technicians on a Saturday night at a hospital to help her with the fire alarm and nurse call system due to a water pipe that had broken in the hospital and had flooded the ER.”
When Brandon is away from work, you will find him grilling and smoking food outside. He has a collection of grilles and smokers. He also enjoys camping at the lake with his family. Over the years, Brandon has received several words of wisdom, but something he heard at a leadership training really stuck out to him. The instructor had a great quote that really resonated with Brandon: “Your legacy is a direct function of what you do with your time here on Earth. How do you use that time to improve the quality of the lives around you and of those that follow?”
