Building the Future of Fire Protection: VSC’s Talent Pipeline in Action
Posted on February 18, 2026 by Lauren Milliman
At VSC Fire & Security, developing our talent pipeline isn’t a future goal — it’s an active commitment. From school outreach to internships and registered apprenticeships, we’re focused on creating meaningful, accessible entry points into the fire protection and life safety industry.
This January, that commitment took another step forward as we welcomed two high school interns to our Atlanta office.
What makes this opportunity impactful is how intentionally it was designed. Both interns attend a nearby school, and VSC has two active projects located close to campus — allowing the students to gain real-world experience without long commutes. By aligning job sites with school schedules, we’re able to remove common barriers and make participation possible.
Each intern will follow a schedule that works around their school day:
One intern will work Monday–Friday, 7–9:30 a.m.
One intern will work Monday–Friday, 7 a.m.–12 p.m.
These flexible schedules allow students to stay engaged in school while gaining exposure to the fire protection industry — from jobsite operations to understanding how systems are installed and maintained.
We are proud to have these two students bring representation to a field where diverse perspectives strengthen our teams and our industry.
These internships are more than short-term experiences. They are intentional entry points into a long-term career pathway, connecting students to future opportunities in full-time employment and our Registered Apprenticeship Programs after graduation.
This is how we grow: by meeting students where they are, creating opportunities that work, and investing early in the next generation of fire protection professionals.
