Employee Spotlight: Cole King

Cole King is working as a Sprinkler Helper in our Richmond Sprinkler office. He started with VSC through the CTE program through his high school. As he approached high school graduation, he knew he wanted to pursue a career in the trades. He volunteered on the Regency Square Mall Education Center construction project. This gave him the opportunity to get hands on experience with contractors before graduation. VSC has partnered with the CTE program as a recruitment and outreach tool to younger generations looking for opportunities in our trade. With this partnership, we can start mentoring young people into great young professionals at the very start of their career. Our Vice President of Learning Development, Jeff Lewis has led our company’s efforts in recruiting young apprentices. Cole spoke about how he was impacted by Jeff’s knowledge of the industry. Whenever Cole had a question, Jeff was available with the answers. Cole’s decision to join the fire protection trade was led by the way our work saves lives and property.

When he isn’t watching Suits , you can find him working on pickup trucks or hunting.

Jeff Lewis, Vice President of Learning and Development, met Cole during the building of Regency Square Mall Education Center. Jeff works with school systems’ career development programs that prepare students with applicable skills to start career after high school. Jeff was very impressed by Cole’s enthusiasm about fire protection. He was delighted to see his efforts land him interviews with several companies and in the end decided to join VSC.
