Employee Spotlight: Sydney Dobson
Posted on September 10, 2025 by Lauren Milliman
We are excited to highlight Sydney Dobson as this month’s Employee Spotlight! Sydney is a Service Coordinator at our Charleston, S.C. Division. Sydney joined our team in March 2023 as an Administrative Assistant and then was promoted to Designer Apprentice. When she initially applied to work for VSC, Sydney notes how drawn she was to the company because of its “positive office environment and strong reputation. It seemed like an ideal place to start my career and build a mutually beneficial professional relationship.”
In just over two years, Sydney has watched the company grow year after year and mentions “our teamwork and collaboration have strengthened, making us more united and effective as a team.” Reliability is something Sydney really connects with. “It builds trust with our customers and colleagues,” she said. “Being dependable ensures that we consistently deliver quality work and meet expectations, which is essential for long-term success and maintaining strong relationships.”
Josh McLeod, Operations Manager and Sydney’s supervisor, recalls his first impression of Sydney. “She was very organized,” he said. Since Sydney’s time began with VSC, Josh shared that she goes above and beyond, “each and every day. Sydney is the central hub for all sprinkler contract work.”
Sydney highlights how working at VSC feels like being part of a true family. “I genuinely feel valued,” she said, “and know that my contributions and well-being are considered.” Her proudest achievement at VSC has been her ability to quickly learn new tasks, take on additional responsibilities, and “consistently excel in every challenge” she’s faced. In her time with VSC, Sydney has earned several certifications and expanded her skillset by learning new software. McLeod has watched Sydney grow, mentioning how she is “eager to take on anything we ask and absorbs everything like a sponge. She is also a huge value to our culture. Her positivity is contagious.” McLeod also recalls a time when Sydney thought outside the box, creating her own spreadsheet to keep up with all aspects of the job – something the team now uses every day.
Sydney’s first job was as a Store Assistant at a local retail store. We asked her what the best advice she had ever been given was and she replied, “Do not plan to spend money that you have not yet made.” In her personal time, Sydney enjoys calligraphy and crafts, catching up on episodes of “It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia,” or reading a good book. The last book she read was “We Used To Live Here,” by Marcus Kliewer. She also has a few items on her bucket list, one being to visit the Netherlands.
Sydney exudes the qualities we value at VSC, with her focus on reliability. She is dedicated, organized, and a team player. We are grateful to have her and look forward to seeing what she accomplishes in the future.
