Employee Success Story: Josh Schulze
Josh Schulze began working at VSC as a Service Technician in 2014. He initially applied after seeing a VSC company vehicle and finding a five-star review for our Orlando location, a decision we’re thankful he decided to make! His commitment to our team and our customers, as well as the wealth of knowledge he brings have not gone unnoticed by leadership. Josh is a vital part of our organization and we’re proud to have him as the Operations Manager of our Orlando Division. He’s a stand-up guy and one heckuva worker, so we wanted to ask Josh some professional and personal questions about his experience with VSC.
Q: When did you start at VSC?
A: I began working at VSC on April 14, 2014 as a service technician.
Q: Why did you initially apply to work for VSC?
A: I applied here after seeing a VSC company vehicle. I went on the VSC website and saw multiple locations with five-star reviews and saw they had an Orlando branch near me.
Q: How have you seen the company grow and change since you started working here?
A: I’ve seen new locations added and new services offered, but our commitment to safety and service has remained unchanged.
Q: What is your favorite part about working at VSC?
A: I love the people I get to work with, the customers we serve and all of the available resources to help me grow.
Q: What part of the VSC mission do you connect with the most?
A: Our commitment to growth and ensuring each location cares for its team members, clients and community.
Q: What was one of the greatest challenges on the job?
A: Learning how to accommodate different communication styles amongst your team.
Q: How is working at VSC different from working at other companies?
A: VSC has more supporting locations companywide then most other competitors.
Q: What is your proudest achievement at VSC?
A: When I took on the Operations Manager role.
Q: How have you grown professionally since starting here?
A: I feel more confident in my ability to manage my time, as well as my team’s time.
Q: What’s your go-to Netflix show when you don’t know what to watch?
A: I’d rather go outside!
Q: Tell us about a hobby of yours outside of work.
A: I enjoy boating, fishing, golf and anything outdoors.

Q: Tell us about the latest book you read.
A: Probably a Water-Based Design Layout book for work.
Q: What’s the best advice that you have ever heard?
A: Leaders can’t lead unless someone follows. Build strong relationships.
Q: Name one of the items on your bucket list.
A: I would love to visit Alaska.
Q: What was your first job?
A: I worked at a bowling alley.
Notes from Josh’s Supervisor
Josh’s supervisor, Jim Blandin, noted that Josh was a sharp-dressed salesperson when he first met him at an ASFA golf outing.
Jim has watched Josh succeed in multiple positions at VSC, which has led him to his current Operations Manager role.
Jim’s advice to employees looking to follow in Josh’s footsteps? Observe, empower, trust and grow with your employees! Josh jumps right in and mentors new hires and participates in team-building activities, is open to feedback, leads by example and doesn’t hesitate to share relevant knowledge. He embodies VSC’s mission by bringing all employees together with the common goal of customer service. Josh is trustworthy, dedicated and driven, all while being calm and responsive.
In five years, Jim wouldn’t be surprised to see Josh as a well-polished manager who’s ready to take on the world. Josh has proven his outside-the-box thinking, kickstarting nonexistent ITM sales by temporarily hiring a lead generation company to bring in sales while growing his sales. Josh’s commitment to growing VSC’s business and recognizing positions that would be a good fit for employees was inspiring not only to his teammates but to leadership as well.
If Jim had to describe Josh with a song title, it’d be “Taking Care of Business” by Bachman-Turner Overdrive. Josh is also a funny guy, as he tried to weasel out of this employee spotlight. We’re sure glad to have Josh on our team!
