VSC Fire & Security Expands with a New Division in Fort Smith, Arkansas

We are excited to share the news of VSC Fire & Security’s continued growth with the opening of our new division in Fort Smith, Arkansas. This expansion allows us to strengthen our commitment to providing top-tier fire protection services across the region.

We are also pleased to announce the return of Coleman Farrar to lead the charge. He has come out of retirement to serve as Division Manager. A long-time leader in the fire protection industry, Coleman brings an unmatched depth of experience, leadership, and passion to our team.

Coleman’s journey in fire protection began in 1981 as a helper in the field, and over the years, he has held roles ranging from fitter and designer to senior leadership positions. His history with VSC began in 2018 with the acquisition of Arkansas Automatic Sprinklers, where he played a pivotal role in shaping the business. His extensive background includes expertise in all areas of fire sprinkler work—estimating, sales, design, fabrication, installation, service, and inspections. He has held a NICET Level IV certification since 1991, demonstrating his deep technical knowledge and commitment to the industry.

Beyond his technical skills, Coleman has been a dedicated leader within fire sprinkler associations since 1993. He has served as Secretary/Treasurer and President of the Arkansas Fire Sprinkler Association, later becoming the founding Chairman and President of the Arkansas Fire Sprinkler Contractors Association (AFSCA). He currently serves as Executive Director of the AFSCA, a role he will continue until the end of the year.

His contributions extend to the Associated Builders and Contractors (ABC) of Arkansas, where he served as Chairman of the Board in 2013 and was honored with ABC Arkansas’ Phillip Joiner Award in 2014, one of the highest distinctions in the industry.

Coleman and his wife, Sharon Farrar, are proud parents of three adult children and doting grandparents to eight grandchildren.

Joining Coleman in leading our Fort Smith Division is Randy Gilliam, Sprinkler Sales, who brings over 25 years of industry experience. His career began in 1998, when he gained hands-on experience in fabrication and installation before transitioning to design, estimating, sales, and project management.

Randy holds a NICET Level III certification and previously served as Vice President and RME at Northwest Fire Protection before its recent acquisition. His leadership within the Arkansas Fire Sprinkler Contractors Association (AFSCA) has been instrumental, serving in roles such as Secretary/Treasurer, Vice President, President, and currently, Chairman of the Board of Directors and President of the association.

His dedication to the industry extends to the Associated Builders and Contractors (ABC) of Arkansas, where he has served on the Western Council both as a member and chairman.

Randy and his wife, Leeann Gilliam, share a full and rewarding life with five children and seven grandchildren.

With Coleman Farrar and Randy Gilliam leading the way, the Fort Smith Division is positioned for great success. Their deep industry expertise, leadership, and commitment to excellence will allow VSC Fire & Security to continue delivering top-quality fire protection services to customers in Arkansas and beyond.
