We are thrilled to highlight Jason Dixon as the Employee Spotlight for May! Jason has been with VSC since July 2015 and is a Field Superintendent for our Richmond Integrated Systems Division. Jason was looking for something different and more technical when he applied to VSC. “I’ve been doing electrical work for a long time, achieved my master electrical license and was looking for another challenge,” he said.
Over the past 10 years, Jason has seen VSC grow and change. When he first started, he remembers there only being “a handful of offices, and we have since tripled that at minimum” he explained. Quality craftsmanship is something that really resonates with Jason. “This is something I preach to my team daily. I always tell them we are professionals first and quality is our number one priority.” Jason’s proudest achievement since joining us has been seeing his team members move from entry level to professional positions. “It’s a great feeling. Seeing the pride of doing a quality job is rubbing off on them,” Jason said.
JB Wilson, VP Division Manager for the Richmond Integrated Systems Division, has known Jason since he was hired on to the fire alarm installation team in 2015. He recalls his first impression of Jason being “A talented young man who brought his electrical background to an applicable trade. Jason has taken his work seriously from day one and his products in the field reflect that. He is a true craftsman and sees things through to the end once his sights are set on a goal.”
All companies are different, and working at VSC has felt like more of a team than other places Jason has worked. Jason knows he has teammates he can lean on for whatever issue may arise. He said VSC still has “a small-company family feeling,” even though it has grown significantly. Jason also highlighted how his “technical skill has grown astronomically from gaining experience through seasoned team members.” He has learned a lot and is still learning management skills since taking on his current role.
JB also highlighted how Jason consistently puts the needs of his team and projects above his own, stating: “He never hesitates to answer phone calls during off hours, to schedule time on projects during nights and weekends, and to offer a helping hand to any team member that may need it. He holds both himself and the team to the highest standards, which is easily recognized by both his fellow team members and our customers. He has held many in-house classes on weekends to assist in the advancement of team member capabilities on his own time”.
JB went on to highlight Jason’s career history from an installer to rapid growth into a programmer for many of the various fire alarm and life safety related systems VSC provides. “He quickly gained the respect of his team as a leader they could depend on and has continued to expand his capabilities and job-related knowledge to this day, making him a highly valued team member and major contributor to the team’s overall success,” JB said.
When Jason isn’t on the clock, you can find him fishing, hunting, or boating. He would love to visit Bora Bora one day. The last book Jason read was “NFPA 72” as he prepares for NICET Level 4.
We are so glad that Jason is a part of the VSC team! Jason’s commitment to his customers and his team is commendable. We are thankful for his dedication and wish him many more years of success.
