This month we are recognizing Max Shrader as our Employee Spotlight. Max is a part of our Low Voltage Sales team in Baltimore, Maryland. In April 2016 Max joined VSC Fire & Security after looking to advance his career in drafting and design, and VSC offered a great opportunity for professional growth.
In his 9 years with VSC, he has seen the Baltimore Low Voltage Division grow significantly. His proudest moment was when he exceeded his annual sales goal during his first year of his sales role and knew it was a significant moment of growth for him, giving him confidence moving forward as well as helping him build his communication and time management skills.
Since starting at VSC, Max has seen how much his time with VSC has helped him step outside of his comfort zone. He started initially working primarily on design but then transitioned into a sales role while continuing to oversee the Low Voltage design department.
When asked about which part of the VSC Mission resonated the most with him, Max knew it was the focus on exceptional customer service, “I really enjoy building relationships with customers and being someone they can rely on. Providing high quality service in a friendly and approachable way.” He went on to say how understanding and supportive VSC has been over the years, and how everyone works together.
Max’s supervisor, Michael Ayers, VP Division Manager, recognizes him as a team player, and highlights Max assisting in design as well as excelling in his sales position. Michael described Max’s work ethic as knowledgeable, moral, and a team player. Ayers went on to say that Max always puts the customer and VSC first. Since Max’s time with VSC began in 2016, Michael has noticed growth in Max’s knowledge and overall confidence.
Ayers has seen Max also give advice to others and share his professional experiences with those around him, helping foster the growth of others on his team. Throughout his career, Max has also been fortunate to have had advice given to him. His favorite being “worrying will not add a single moment to your life.”
Outside of work, Max enjoys roller skating and hiking and hopes to add a trip to Glacier National Park to his list of places to visit. His first job was Dunkin’ so naturally he leans more to coffee over tea, double espresso to be exact. His favorite local restaurant is Chipotle, and if he had to pick a favorite TV show, it would be Seinfeld.
Max exemplifies the mindset of the VSC, with the focus on customer service and supporting his team in every way.
