Employee Spotlight – Wayne Gilbert
Posted on February 13, 2026 by Lauren Milliman
We are excited to highlight Wayne Gilbert as February’s Employee Spotlight! Wayne is a Field Supervisor at our Richmond Sprinkler Division and has been with VSC for 14 years. Since joining the team, Wayne has seen the company change ownership and expand into a top leader within the fire sprinkler industry.
We asked Wayne what drew him to VSC and he replied, “I was getting out of the Navy and knew a few people who worked here.” He went on to explain how he stands behind our ability to provide a one-stop-shop for all of our customers’ fire protection and life safety needs, keeping the focus on the customer and what is best for them.
Jeremy Taylor, Sprinkler Service Manager and Wayne’s supervisor, remembers his first impression of Wayne. “He is motivated. I have known him since he was still in high school. He is always trying to find better ways to perform his job and has good ideas.”
Compared to working at other companies, Wayne noted how VSC is different. “It felt like VSC is a family, and we have the best guys and work ethics,” he said. “I would always say VSC is the best, and I still feel that way today. Things have changed, but with change also comes a lot of good. Even though we are a larger company, I still feel like we are a family.”
Wayne’s proudest achievement since joining us has been his promotion to Field Supervisor. We asked him about his growth and opportunities and he said, “I have been given a lot of opportunities to mature and grow from a young adult who was eager and green to a well-rounded man who is dependable and people respect.”
Jeremy highlights some of Wayne’s growth stating, “He started as a Trainee, became a Foreman and then most recently a Field Supervisor. He always has a positive attitude which has an impact on the team and our culture.” Jeremy went on to describe Wayne’s work ethic as “thorough, clean and particular.”
When Wayne isn’t working, you can find him volunteering at his local Fire Department, off-roading or taking the boat out to the lake. His bucket list would include being able to visit all 50 states. The best advice he has ever been given is: “Don’t be afraid to fail, because you can only keep getting better until you succeed.”
We are happy that Wayne is a part of our team and look forward to what he will accomplish in the future.
